‘Rage for color’, photo by Erwin Blumenfeld, October 15, 1958

“Model in green is Dolores Hawkins, in blue is Anne St. Marie and purple is Bani Yevelston.
Bani Yevelston was the first black model to participate in an American fashion show (1957). Her appearance in Minneapolis made a big splash and was the subject of a number of press articles. The New York Times reported the event and LIFE published a series of photographs by Blumenfeld illustrating the dresses and models in the show.”From the book “Erwin Blumenfeld” by Michael Métayer.
